Crowns and bridges are dental restorations used to restore damaged or missing teeth. A crown, often called a cap, is placed over a weakened, cracked, or treated tooth to restore its shape, strength, and function. Crowns are made of materials such as porcelain or metal and protect and strengthen teeth, especially after treatments such as root canal therapy. Bridges, on the other hand, replace one or more missing teeth. Anchored by crowns on adjacent teeth, a bridge fills the gap, improving appearance, chewing, and speech while helping to maintain proper alignment of surrounding teeth.
